We have all seen the discarded garden waste, the broken fridge or soiled mattress on the side of a rural road or in a street in town. Most will have also seen a van load of rubbish or old tyres dumped without a thought for the community or those will will inevitably spend their time and money clearing up after their selfish act. Some unfortunate landowners will have experienced the industrial scale dumping of waste for profit by organised crime groups often delivered via HGV and costing thousands to clear up. We need to fight back against this vile tide at all levels and I will help our councils and our communities to do just that.
I will support the work of our councils in preventing and tackling the despicable crime of fly-tipping that blights some of our urban and rural areas. I want to see less illegal dumping and more prosecutions and will support local government colleagues to deliver this with the creation of a new £250,000 anti fly-tipping fund.
We need to support the community to prevent fly-tipping and to hold those to account who see nothing wrong with spreading their rubbish for others to clear or making a profit from dumping illegally.
This fund will be created from money I have already successfully gained from central Government and will be used to work in partnership across Lincolnshire. We cannot accept that this issue should continue unchecked.
